Obituary

Leda Mildred Fletcher, 92, of Brunswick, MO died on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at the Meyer Care Center in Higginsville, MO. Funeral Services will be held at the Gibson Funeral Home in Brunswick, MO, Monday, June 14, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. Gail Brown and Donald McNeall officiating. Visitation will be at the Funeral Home on Sunday, from
6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Burial will be in the Elliott Grove Cemetery at Brunswick, MO.
Leda was born on August 17, 1917 at rural Brunswick, MO the daughter of William L. and Eva (Smutz) Armstrong. She graduated from Mendon High School in 1934 and was married to Jesse Walker Fletcher on February 25, 1935 at Huntsville, MO. Jesse preceded her in death on July 17, 1999. Leda was a devoted, hardworking farm wife, mother and grandmother. She was well known for her fantastic cooking and baking. Words cannot describe the loving, caring and compassionate way she lived her life. She will be greatly missed by many and forever in our hearts. Leda had also worked as a cook at the Brunswick Nursing Home, was a member of the Brunswick Baptist Church, The help one Another Extension Club, had been a community leader for the Indian Grove 4-H Club and the Busy Brunswicker 4-H Club and had lived in the Rural Brunswick area all of her life. She is survived by one son, Wayne Fletcher and his wife Barbara of Mendon, MO; three daughters, Wanda Clark and her husband Frank of Springfield, MO, Betty Wells and her husband Chuck of Loudon, TN and Vickie Pulliam and her husband David of Higginsville, MO; one daughter-in-law, Julie Fletcher of Triplett, MO; sixteen grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren., six great-great grandchildren and sixteen step great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son Gale Fletcher, one great-great-grandson Isaiah Meyer, one brother, Lester Armstrong and three sisters, Elizabeth Riley, Edith Truesdell and Mary LeMon.
Pallbearers will be Jerry, Jeff and Adam Fletcher, Duane, Greg, Brad and Scott Clark Don Wells and Camden Pulliam. Memorials may be made to the Elliott Grove Cemetery or the Brunswick Redevelopment and Revitalization and may be let at or mailed to, Gibson Funeral Home, 207 W. Broadway, Brunswick, MO 65236.
