JACKIE "JACK" WELCHON
Jackie L. "Jack" Welchon, 75, Raytown, Mo., passed away Saturday, July 17, 2010, at Lee's Summit Hospital from a blood clot to his lungs following surgery. Jack was born July 20, 1934, in Carroll County, Mo. Growing up in Bosworth, Mo., he learned the mechanics trade at the side of his father, Virgil "Jack" Welchon. He took his trade to Raytown in 1955 and went to work for Ray Smith Ford. He left the dealership, now Dick Smith Ford, in 1983 as Service Manager after a very successful career. Jack is well known for his infectious laugh and the many, many funny stories he would tell. Visitation will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2at Missouri Funeral Care. A reception to follow from 7 to 9 p.m. at Dick Smith Ford, 9505 E. 350 Hwy., in Raytown. Graveside services at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 22, at Big Creek Cemetery, Bosworth, Mo. Jack is survived by his wife of 36 years, Nancy Couste' Welchon, Raytown, and her son, Brad Dooley; his children, Jack I. Welchon, Cheryl A. Murphy and husband Rorry; his grandchildren, Collin and Katie Murphy; his brother, Robert Welchon, Bosworth. Donations to Children's Mercy Hospital can be made in lieu of flowers.
