Jean E. Meracle

Jean E. Meracle, 83, of Dousman, WI passed away peacefully on April 4, 2024 at Aurora Summit Hospital with her loving daughter by her side.

Jean was born on May 17, 1940 in Watertown, WI the daughter of Robert and Clara (Uglow) Meracle. She grew up in Dousman, WI and lived on Hardscrabble Road her entire life. Jean was proud of where she lived and even in her last days would always ask “what’s new on Hardscrabble Road?”. Jean graduated from Oconomowoc High School with the class of 1958. She worked for the Carnation Milk Products Company for the majority of her working career retiring in 2000. God blessed Jean with two children, Barbara and Kevin and she loved them both dearly. Jean was active with the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Rome Historical Society. She had a fun personality, a contagious laugh and could make conversation with just about anyone. Jean had a special connection to animals. She loved to watch and feed the birds in her yard and she also had beloved pet cats and kept chickens for many years. Jean also enjoyed baking and baked many batches of cookies that she would give to her friends and loved ones. Above all else in Jean’s life was her love for her family. She will be deeply missed by those she leaves behind.

She is survived by: her loving daughter, Barbara Kemmerling of Dousman, WI, her grandchildren, Stephanie (Jason) Butler of Palmyra, Nicholas Herr of Dousman, James (Laura) Kemmerling of Savannah, GA, and Kyle Kemmerling of Oconomowoc; her great-grandchildren, Parker, Damien, Brooklynn, and Zeke; and her brother, Allen (Mona) Meracle of Dousman. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents, her dear son, Kevin Kemmerling, and her brother, Ronald Meracle.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wildlife in Need Center of Oconomowoc, WI, the Jefferson County Humane Society, or the Audubon Nature Society of Wisconsin.

A Funeral Service will be held for Jean at 11:00AM on Friday, April 12, 2024 at the Gibson Family Funeral Home in Palmyra, WI (320 W. Main St. Palmyra, WI 53156). Visitation will take place from 9:00AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Jean will be laid to rest in Hardscrabble Road Cemetery immediately following the service.
