Robert Beranek Obituary

Robert E. Beranek, 84, of Fort Atkinson and previously of North Prairie, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2024 at his home.

Bob was born at home in North Prairie on December 12, 1939 the son of Thomas and Leora (Fuhrman) Beranek. He grew up in North Prairie and graduated from Mukwonago High School. After completing his schooling, Bob faithfully served his country in the United States Army and would remain in the reserves for 8 years after his active duty service. On August 22, 1964 he married the love of his life, Sharyl Brown at the United Church of Christ in Dousman, WI. Bob and Sharyl enjoyed 59 years of marriage together. God blessed Bob and Sharyl with three children, Kristen, Katy and a baby daughter that passed away at birth. Bob worked as a carpenter for the majority of his working career. He started out in residential carpentry - having built several homes with his brothers. Later in his career, he focused on commercial construction, and took pride in working on many well-known Milwaukee company buildings. Bob was a proud member of the Carpenter’s Local Union 344. When he wasn’t working, Bob could be found out in nature enjoying God’s creation. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. He travelled annually to Canada with friends and family, and made great memories on each trip. He hunted all sorts of wild game including deer, pheasant and ducks. Service to the local community was very important to Bob and he was an active member of the North Prairie Lions Club for more than 30 years. Bob also enjoyed bowling, trap shooting, playing golf and a good game of dominoes. Above all else in his life, was his love for his family. He was a devoted husband and father and a very proud Papa to his grandchildren. He was a good man and he will be dearly missed by those he leaves behind.

He is survived by: his loving wife, Sharyl Beranek of Fort Atkinson ; his two daughters, Kristen Beranek and Katy Simon both of Fort Atkinson; his grandchildren, Morgan and Logan Simon; his sister, Joan Linde of North Prairie; his siblings-in-law, Ronnie Pease of North Prairie, Avis Beranek of North Prairie; sister-in-laws Donna Hanson of Minnesota and Kappie Murray of Green Bay. He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by: his baby daughter, his parents, his parents-in-law, Elmer and Lucile Brown, his son-in-law, David Sundlie; his siblings, Ronald (the late Yvonne) Beranek, Donald (the late Judy) Beranek, Conald Beranek, Jean Beranek, Jane Pease; brothers-in-law, Jim Linde, Lew Hanson and Bernie Murray and nephew, Kory Beranek.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials in Bob’s honor may be made to the Wisconsin Lions Camp (www.wlf.info).
