Alan Atkielski Obituary

Alan J. Atkielski, 66, of Palmyra, WI passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc.

Alan was born on November 23, 1957 in Milwaukee the son of Philip and Lorraine (Kowalski) Atkielski. He grew up in the Milwaukee area and for a few of his formative years, moved to Raleigh, NC with his family for his father’s work. During Al’s childhood, his grandparents, Henry and Hattie Kowalski lived in the family home and they shared a close bond. After about 7 years in North Carolina, Al would move back to Waukesha County and spend the rest of his life in Wisconsin. He worked in Retail Sales for the Marshall Field’s Department Store for the majority of his working career. Al’s friendly and helpful demeanor served him well in his vocation. He specialized in Oriental rugs and would do whatever he could to assist his customers, even travel to their home in the delivery truck to make sure the rug was positioned in just the right space. After his retirement, Al moved out to Palmyra and enjoyed the small-town life. He was fond of the local café and enjoyed chatting and meeting new friends there. Al will be remembered for his positive outlook, his sense of humor and his generosity. He also loved animals of all types, everything from birds, to cats to horses. He will be sincerely missed by those he leaves behind.

He is survived by: his sister, Susan (Kenneth) Kazmierkiewicz of Norman, OK; his nieces, Lauren (David) Notley of Nevada and Kristin Kazmierkiewicz of Tennessee; and his special friends, Steve and Becky Hornak of New Berlin, WI. He is also survived by a number of other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
