Bruce J. Omdoll, Sr.

Bruce J. Omdoll, Sr., 84, of Palmyra, WI passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2021 peacefully with family by his side at Watertown Health Care Center in Watertown.

Bruce was born on March 13, 1937 in Milwaukee, WI the son of John and Arlene (Rowe) Omdoll. After graduating high school, he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. On May 9, 1959, Bruce was united in marriage to Sue Carol Schroeder. God blessed Bruce and Sue with many children, Bruce Jr., Linda, Lisa, Lora, John and Shari. Bruce worked as the Director of Safety and Security for St. Joseph’s Hospital for the majority of his working career, but also worked for AC Delco as the Security Director and Fire Marshall, for the University of Wisconsin as a Risk Manager and as a Chemist for a period of time with the Milwaukee Road. Bruce had an accepting and kind personality. He was nice to everyone and was quick to make conversation. He was also very generous, almost to a fault. Bruce was always willing to go out of his way to help a friend, neighbor or loved one in need. Bruce also had a special connection with animals and family pets brought him a lot of joy during his life. He was a good husband, a loving father, and a proud grandfather and great grandfather and he will be missed but forever remembered by those he leaves behind.

He is survived by: his wife of 62 years, Sue Carol Omdoll; his children, Bruce (Susan) Omdoll, Linda (Mike) Lehman, Lisa (Richard) Heitl, Lora (Dan) Cieszynski, John (Charlotte) Omdoll and Shari (Kory) Schuhmacher; his loving grandchildren, Nicole, Elizabeth, Danny, Ethan (Alyssa), Ryan, Thomas, Adam, Bret, Dianna, and Trevor; and his dear great-grandchildren, Alayna, Aiden, Audrey, Elroy, Hendrix, Luna, Mario, and Annabelle. He is also survived by a number of other relatives and friends.

Bruce is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Gary Omdoll.

A Funeral Service will be held at 6:00PM on Friday, December 17, 2021 at the Gibson Family Funeral Home in Palmyra, WI (320 W. Main St. Palmyra, WI 53156). Rev. Karen Klatt will officiate the service. Visitation will take place from 4:00PM until the time of service at the funeral home. Bruce will be laid to rest in Hillside Cemetery in Palmyra at 10:00AM on Saturday, December 18, 2021.
