Carol LePak Obituary

Carol J. LePak, 90, of Palmyra, WI passed away on Friday, March 19, 2021 at Lakeland Health Care Center in Elkhorn, WI.

Carol was born on December 31, 1930 in Milwaukee, WI the daughter of Peter & Evelyn (Schlosser) Mattsen. She grew up in Grafton, WI and after completing high school, she attended the University of Wisconsin La Crosse graduating with a degree in Education. After college, she married Maurice Briles and the two enjoyed 7 years together until Maurice unexpectedly passed away as the result of a motorcycle accident. Carol later married James LePak and the Lord blessed their union with four children: Peter, Patricia, Paul and Penny. Carol worked as an Actuary in the insurance industry until she and James had children, then she became a full time mom and homemaker. Family was very important to Carol and she made sure that her children were always well fed and taken care of. Whether it was her husband, children or members of the community, Carol did a lot for other people and expressed her love and faith through acts of service to others. She volunteered with American Red Cross blood drives, Faith in Action and Meals on Wheels, she spent 15 years as Treasurer on the Palmyra Library Board, led a Girl Scouts Troop and coached basketball just to name a few things. For leisure, Carol enjoyed knitting, reading, crossword puzzles and spending time outside in her garden. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and she will be dearly missed.

She is survived by: her four children, Peter LePak of Palmyra, WI, Patricia (Walter) Harwood of Streamwood, IL, Paul (Michelle) LePak of Temple, TX, and Penny LePak of Palmyra, WI; seven grandchildren, Clifford LePak, David LePak, Ted (Marisa) LePak, April (Michael) Coffell, Jeff LePak, Amanda LePak, and Matthew Harwood; four great-grandchildren, Marley, Felix, Evelyn and Christopher; and two siblings, Clifford Mattsen and Evelyn Desandre. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by: her parents, her husbands, and a brother.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Carol’s honor may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Palmyra, WI or the American Red Cross.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Palmyra, WI with Fr. Mariadas Bekala presiding. Visitation will take place on Thursday from 9:00AM until the time of mass at the church. Carol will be laid to rest at 10:00AM on Friday, March 26, 2021 in St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery in Milwaukee, WI.
