Daniel D. “Dan/Danny” Walsh, 77 of Mukwonago, WI passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at his home.
Dan was born in Belvidere Illinois Nov. 23, 1946 to Ervin (Jim) and Elizabeth (Libby) nee Mattingly Walsh.
He spent his younger days in Garden Prairie Illinois where he enjoyed being a river rat along the Kishwaukee. He attended several grade schools and attended high school in Marengo, Illinois. After serving in the U S Army in Augsburg W. Germany 1965 -1968 he came to Mukwonago and never left. He always thought of Mukwonago as his adopted hometown.
He had quite a varied working life, Bartender/ manager, machine operator, restaurant owner and last but not least head maintenance custodian at East Troy Schools where he enjoyed 20 years employment. He also helped for 20+ years with the Hooked on Fishing program, teaching the fifth graders how to fish. Dan was a founder and charter president of Phantom Riders Snowmobile Club, served on several committees at East Troy Schools. Dan volunteered many years at the East Troy Food Pantry and served several terms as president, also Vice President and longtime director. He was a patriot and member of American Legion Post 375 in Mukwonago. Dan and Carol also bought and sold antiques and collectables for several years.
Dan married Carol Nabor on April 14, 1973 in Mukwonago and had 50+ years of marriage until Carol passed in Nov. of 2023. Together they raised 2 sons and enjoyed camping, cooking, fishing, entertaining and spending time in their yard on Lower Phantom and visiting with family and friends. Dan was a person of many interests: antiques, food from harvest to table including butchering and preserving meat and growing and preserving vegetables, hunting wild foods until health wouldn't allow it. His big love was music of all genres
Preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Carol, two older brothers, Larry and Patrick, mother and father in-law Peter and Norma Naber, sister in-law Alice Naber, brother in-law Kevin Robison and best friend and brother in-law Kevin Detlof.
Dan is survived by son Greg Lindholm (Paula), Dewitt, VA, Peter Lindholm, Hopewell, VA, Granddaughter Kaitlin Lindholm, Colonial Heights, VA, brother David Laona, WI, sisters Kathy Robison, Wales WI, Jackie (Dan)Forster, Sullivan, WI, brothers in law Ed Naber, Vernon, Jim Naber (Kim), Eagle, many nieces and nephews and other relatives, special friend and caregiver Kori Graboski, his neighbor Kim Weber, plus many other friends and neighbors, and his beloved dog Aryel.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Mukwonago Catastrophic Medical Fund or East Troy Food pantry are greatly appreciated.
Military Honors and a Celebration of Dan’s life will take place at 6:00PM on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at the Gibson Family Funeral Home in Eagle, WI (499 Elkhorn Road, Eagle, WI 53119). Visitation will take place from 4:00PM until the time of service.

Dan will be laid to rest next to his wife, Carol in Troy Lakes Cemetery at a later date.
