David Jon "Mac" McConahay

David J.”Mac” McConahay, 67, of Eagle, WI passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at AngelsGrace Hospice Center in Oconomowoc with his loving family by his side.

David was born on March 12, 1952 in Milwaukee, WI the son of Howard and Jean (Humphry) McConahay. He worked as a Systems Analyst for Case IH Corporation for the majority of his working career. Dave had an analytical mind and was skilled at making machines and equipment work more efficiently. He was always interested in how things worked. His loving family says he loved to find the wonder in life and the things of life. Dave was a tinkerer and often had a few projects he was working on. He also had a special love for books and reading. He was a perpetual student and learner. History was one of his favorite genres. Some other activities Dave enjoyed were watching football, discussing politics, and just being around his friends and loved ones. Dave was a very forward and honest person. You knew how he felt at all times. He had a contagious personality and strong love for people. Dave’s love for animals also needs to be mentioned. He collected dogs and cats and they held a special place in his heart. The thing that most defined Dave was his love of music. He breathed music. He would spend hours working on his stereo equipment and getting lost in a classic album. Vinyl records and all types of classic music were his life. He could talk to anyone about any type of music for any length of time. Dave was a special person and will be dearly missed by his friends and family.

Dave is survived by: his 3 children, Kelly (Ben Schmackle) McConahay, Colleen (Shawn) McConahay Paap, and Sean (Katie) McConahay; and 8 grandchildren, Ariane, Gavin, Kaleb, Ben, Jack, Chloe, Liam, and Asa. He is also survived by a number of other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by: his parents, and his brother-in-law and best friend Kevin Carlson.

A Memorial Service will be held to honor Dave's life at 11:00AM  on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Old Saint Mary Parish in Milwaukee (844 N Broadway, Milwaukee, WI 53202). Visitation will be held at the parish from 10:00AM until the time of service. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held after the service at The Oaks of Shorewood (3900 N Estabrook Parkway, Shorewood, WI 53211) from 1:00PM - 3:00PM.

The family would like to encourage those attending Dave’s celebration to bring a favorite record to play and enjoy together.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dave’s honor may be made to the family.
