David P. Smart

David P. Smart, 80 of Eagle, WI passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at AngelsGrace Hospice Center in Oconomowoc. 

David was born on March 5, 1942 in Waukesha, WI the son of Earl and Esther (Behling) Smart. David grew up in the Village of Eagle and would remain there for the vast majority of his life. He graduated from Mukwonago High School and worked at Navistar for 47 years. On March 5, 1961, David was united in marriage to Marilyn Lorenz in Milwaukee and the two would go on to enjoy over 61 years of marriage together. God blessed David and Marilyn with four children. 

David was a hard worker. He took pride in providing for his family and making sure they had what they needed. He had a long working career of over 50 years and during that time he only missed work a handful of times. Being at work and on time was very important to him. Even after a stroke kept him out of work for months, David returned to work when his doctors allowed him and remained very productive.  David had a quiet personality, but did enjoy time with his close friends. He also liked to work outdoors on his lawn and garden. David loved his wife and children and he also had a soft spot for animals, especially the family’s dogs. David was a good man and will be missed by those he leaves behind.

He is survived by: his loving wife, Marilyn Smart of Eagle, WI; his children, Joyce, David Alan, Janice, and Darlene; his grandchildren, Jennifer (Nathan), Nicholas (Tiffany), Dannielle (Koty), and Jacob; and his 5 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a number of other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his mother-in-law, his sister, Elaine Raduechel, and his son-in-law, John.

A private family funeral service will be held at the Gibson Family Funeral Home in Eagle, WI with the Rev. David Griffiths presiding. David will be laid to rest in Oak Ridge Cemetery of Eagle, WI following the funeral service.
