Debra McMickle Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and friend.

Debra “Debbie” Jean McMickle, age 70, passed away peacefully on Wednesday January 8th, 2025 at Lynnwood of Delafield with her loving family by her side.

Debra was born on July 31st, 1954 in Milwaukee, WI to George and Jean Caudill (Olson) and was the youngest daughter of their three children. Growing up in a Lutheran family in the Oconomowoc area, Debra found her faith in Christ at a very young age. She attended St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and was confirmed in her faith on April 7th,1968. In 1970, God blessed Debra in her marriage to Thomas McMickle and the blessings continued with three beautiful daughters, Michelle, Rebecca and Melissa.  For much of her working career, Debra worked in management in the gas station industry. Not only did her amazing leadership qualities earn her numerous awards over the years, but her charismatic personality was a mere reflection of her innate ability to connect with others effortlessly and with such passion and kindness. Even though Debra was forced to retire early  due to health issues, Debra never lost her beautiful, unwavering spirit or her faith in God. She had such a beautiful smile that captivated those around her and her bubbly personality was infectious to anyone who knew her. She had many interests throughout her life including spending time with friends, birdwatching, bowling, boating, fishing, archery, baking, reading her Bible, spending time with her sister Nancy and even singing karaoke with her oldest daughter Michelle. For nearly the last two years of her life, she grew incredibly close to the staff at Lynnwood of Delafield. The joy and happiness Debra felt being cared for by staff who truly treated her like family meant everything to her, especially in her final days. Above all else in Debra’s life was her love for her family. She treasured her time with her daughters and grandchildren and was an involved and caring Mother, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. She will be dearly missed, but her memory will live on in the lives of those she leaves behind.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: her three daughters, Michelle (Nick) Carter of Harpers Ferry, WV, Rebecca (Roger) Wilson of Mukwonago, WI, Melissa (Kenneth) Sallee of Mukwonago, WI; Her grandchildren, Alicia (Adam) Sutton of Oconomowoc, WI, Emily Bellovary (Kyler Swamp) of Ranson, WV, Katie Tanner (Jerry Fredrick) of Oshkosh, WI, Anthony Hansen of Mukwonago, WI, Zemirah Carter of Frederick, MD, Alisha Rau of Flensburg, Germany, Blake McFarlane of Mukwonago, WI, Meghan McFarlane of Mukwonago, WI,  Olivia McFarlane of Mukwonago, WI, Ryleigh Wilson of Mukwonago, WI, Matthew Sallee of Elizabethtown, KY, Lacey Janick of Mukwonago, WI, Mason Sallee of Mukwonago, WI; 12 Great-Grandchildren, her sister Nancy (Donald) Zache of Watertown, WI and special friend Darlene (Bernie) Nicodemous of Watertown, WI. Debra is further survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Thomas Caudill.
