Eric A. Nelson

Eric A. Nelson, 82, of Arkdale, WI left his earthly home to fish the lakes of Heaven on June 24, 2024.

Eric was born on February 18, 1942 in Palmyra, WI the son of Arthur E. and Geraldine (Gaetz) Nelson. He grew up in Palmyra and graduated from Palmyra High School. Eric was united in marriage to Christine Szymkowski on July 24, 1962 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Palmyra and God blessed their union with 3 children, Nels, Dennis, and Julie. Eric worked as a Machinist for Hein and Warner Company of Waukesha, WI for the majority of his working career. He was a hard worker and took pride in providing for his family. Eric was a loving dad and husband and loved to spend time with his family. One of the great joys of Eric’s life was fishing. He was an avid outdoorsman and was interested in hunting and trapping but his true passion was in the boat with his fishing rod and a cold drink. In his younger years, he enjoyed athletics and played baseball, softball and basketball. He was the type of person who took care of things and was always willing to help a friend, neighbor or family member in need. Eric was a good man and will be sincerely missed.

He is survived by: his three children, Nels, Dennis, and Julie Nelson, his two grandchildren, Deborah Albanese and Austin Nelson; two great-grandchildren, Jeramiah and Arianna Albanese; and his beloved canine companion, Willie. He is also survived by a number of other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 58 years, Christine Nelson, and his siblings John Nelson and Nancy Orchard.

A Visitation will be held from 2:00PM until 4:00PM on Friday, June 28, 2024 at the Gibson Family Funeral Home in Palmyra, WI (320 W. Main St. Palmyra, WI 53156). Eric will be laid to rest during a graveside service immediately following the visitation in Skoponong Cemetery of Palmyra, WI.
