Eugene Fleck, age 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 12th, 2026, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his immediate family. Eugene, known to many as Gene, Geno, Eugen/Oigen, was born on December 3rd, 1933, in Ukraine, where he lovingly cared for his siblings, alongside his mother, while his father was at war. Eugene came to the United States and moved to North Dakota where he met the love of his life, Rosebella; they married and were blessed with two children.
As a master of many trades, Eugene built futures as a carpenter, fed and welcomed many as the owner of Fleck's Meadow Inn, kept things running smoothly as a handyman at Camp Menominee, and brought smiles to countless faces as a candy maker. Eugene had a love of soccer, bowling, and dancing to polka music - his favorite being Mollie B.
In his later years, Eugene cherished time spent with his beloved friends and the devoted staff at LindenGrove. Whether playing Sheepshead, enjoying Friday afternoon cocktails, or attending Elvis impersonations, he had a love for life and the people in it.
Eugene will be remembered by his kind and gentle spirit, his bold German accent, his beautiful blue eyes, and his trademark phrase, "you betcha".
Though our hearts are broken. we find comfort in knowing that he is dancing in heaven with Rosebella, and reunited with his dear daughter, Delilah.
He is survived by his son, David (Wendy) Fleck of Mukwonago; his grandchildren, Kayla and Devin; his sisters, Hilde (Carl) and Ida; his brother, Willy (Kathy); and many nieces, nephews, and a loving extended family from Camp Menominee. Eugene was preceded in death by his wife, Rosebella; his daughter, Delilah; his brothers, Phillip and Mark; his sister, Lydia; and his parents, Markus and Emilie Fleck.
A celebration of life will be held in Eugene's honor, with more details to come. Eugene lived boldly, loved generously and would insist we celebrate
- not with tears alone, but with a raised glass and grateful hearts. A life well lived, and a man well loved - Zicke Zacke, Zicke Zacke, Hoi Hoi Hoi.
