Eugene J. Walters

Eugene J. Walters, 87, of Dousman, WI passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at his home with his loving family by his side.

Eugene was born on April 30, 1936 in Sheboygan, WI the son of Louis and Antoinette (Chernsek) Walters. He moved to Eagle at the age of 7 and spent most of his life in the Eagle community. Eugene graduated from East Troy High School and excelled in sports during his school years, especially football and baseball. His love of sports would stay with him throughout his life. He was an excellent softball player and locally known for his abilities on the softball field and he also enjoyed watching sports of all types. Gene worked as a Machinist for Waukesha Engine for over 48 years retiring in 2002 and he never missed a full day’s work. Gene enjoyed his job and he took pride in providing for his family. He also volunteered his time and served his local community on the Eagle Fire Department for a number of years. On October 15, 1966 Gene was united in marriage to Judy Garlock at the St. Theresa Catholic Church in Eagle, WI and the Lord blessed their union with two children, Kelli and Brian. Gene had a laid back and easy-going personality. He was easy to get along with and pleasant. Gene sincerely loved his family and was happiest when spending time with those closest to him. Besides his love for sports and athletics, he was an avid outdoorsman and shared this love with his son and other family members. He also appreciated a good Subway sandwich from Palmyra and in recent years enjoyed going to the local laundromat to chat with other local folks and get some laundry done. Gene will be dearly missed but his memory will live on in those he leaves behind.

He is survived by: his loving wife of 58 years, Judy Walters of Dousman, WI; his children, Kelli Walters of Whitewater, WI, and Brian (Natalie) Walters of Dousman, WI; his two grandchildren, Grace and Eli Walters; and his brother, Bob (Pat) Walters of Mukwonago, WI. He is also survived by a number of other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at the Gibson Family Funeral Home in Eagle, WI (499 Elkhorn Road, Eagle, WI 53119). Visitation will take place from 9:00AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Gene will be laid to rest with full Military Honors in the St. Theresa Catholic Cemetery in Eagle, WI immediately following the service.
