Jacqueline “Jackie” Betts September 8, 1954 – August 20, 2025
Jacqueline “Jackie” Betts, of East Troy, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 20th, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on September 8, 1954, to Catherine (Mehring) and Goodwin Jacobson, Jackie lived a life rooted in family and the simple joys that truly mattered.
On June 28, 1975, she married the love of her life, Thompson “Tom” Betts—affectionately known to many as “Doc.” They had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, a milestone that marked a lifetime of laughter, resilience, and deep devotion. It may not have been love at first sight, but when Tom saw that “cute little blonde showing cattle,” she stole his heart—and the rest, as they say, is history.
Jackie was a proud and loving mother to Eric (Jennifer), Kyle (Stephanie), and Tony (Sam). She cherished her role as “Grandma Jackie” to Brody, Brielle, Levi, Lucas, Evet, and step-grandchildren Jovi and Oden. But her heart didn’t stop there—Jackie was the honorary “Ma” and “Grandma” to many of her children’s close friends and their kiddos, always ready with a warm hug, a listening ear, and a plate of something fresh from the oven.
She is survived by her beloved sisters Joyce (Norm) Uglow and Patricia “Pat” Kelsey. Jackie shared a special bond with Joyce, especially during their adventures watching cattle shows together, where their laughter and shared passion created cherished memories. Jackie is further survived by her dear sister-in-law, Nancy (Dick) Powell. Jackie thought of Nancy as her third sister and the two had a very close bond. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Jackie had a gift for making people feel at home. Whether quilting a blanket with love stitched into every seam, baking and cooking, or hosting weekends on the family’s houseboat, The Rainmaker, she brought warmth and comfort wherever she went.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Catherine and Goodwin Betts, her in-laws, Donald and LaVern Betts, and her brothers-in-law, Don Kelsey and Bob Betts.
Jackie will be remembered for her unwavering love, her deep generosity, and the countless lives she touched with her kindness and quiet strength. Her legacy lives on in the family she adored and in the many who considered her a second mom, a loyal friend, and a steady, loving presence in their lives.
A celebration of Jackie’s life will be held on a date that is yet to be determined.
