James M. Strenke, 87, of Palmyra, WI passed away peacefully on Monday, May 5, 2025 at his home.
Jim was born on April 8, 1938 in Greendale the son of Leonard and Margaret (Kunkel) Strenke. He grew up with his family in Greendale and graduated from Greendale High School. From a young age, Jim had a special love and connection for horses and worked in horse stables during his youth. One day at work, he met a young lady, Judith Pares and the two would eventually marry on April 20, 1963. God blessed Jim and Judy with two children, Michael and Jennifer.
Jim and Judy moved to the lake in 1971 and fell in love with the water. Jim enjoyed fishing and boating. He could be seen pulling his daughter behind the boat water skiing and tubing for hours at a time.
Jim had a good mind for figuring out problems and was skilled with his hands. If something was broken and could be fixed, Jim could do it. He passed those traits onto his son, and they enjoyed tinkering in the garage together.
Jim had a long career as Foreman for Greendale Village of Public Works, retiring in 2000.
He is survived by: his loving wife, Judith Strenke of Palmyra; his two children, Michael Strenke of Fort Atkinson, and Jennifer Strenke of Oconomowoc; and his sisters, Judy (the late William “Bill”) McQuerry of Greendale and Mary (the late Charles) Marquette of Greendale. He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents.
Per Jim’s wishes, no formal services will be held.
