Janet M. Brzezinski, 93, of Waukesha passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August, 27, 2025 with her loving family by her side.
Janet was born on July 16, 1932, in Milwaukee the daughter of Louis and Stella (Janiuk) Smith. She was united in marriage to John G. Brzezinski III on September 12, 1953 and God blessed their union with three daughters, Patricia, Sharon and Loretta.
Janet was a caring wife and mother and always encouraged her children to do their best. She was opinionated and a bit spunky, but it was out of love and devotion. Janet truly enjoyed nature and loved being out in God’s creation at her home on Eagle Spring Lake, feeding the birds, watching the swans, taking leisurely boat rides and living the lake life. She was very fond of animals and was a proud caretaker to her many generations of Shih Tzu dogs. Janet and John enjoyed entertaining family and friends at the lake and no one ever left hungry from one of their events. She married Daniel Wargolet in August, 1998 and he preceded her in death in May, 2004.
She is survived by: daughters, Patricia Simmers of Arvada, CO, Sharon (Martin) Grunfelder of Waukesha, and Loretta Bower of Mukwonago; grandchildren, Alison (Gavin) Berry, Emilie Grunfelder, Valerie (Peter) Henderson, Kelsey (Kyle) Kierzek, and Charles Bower, Jr.; and great-grandchildren, Presley, Aria, Quinn, Olivia, Kyle Jr., and Madison.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Deacon John, her sister Susan Ostrander and her brothers-in-law, Lynn, Gordon John (Donna) Brzezinski, and Virgil (Margaret) Brzezinski.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 4:00PM on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at St. Theresa Catholic Church (136 W. Waukesha Rd, Eagle, WI). Visitation will take place from 2:00PM until the time of mass at the church. Janet will be laid to rest next to her husband in St. Theresa Catholic Cemetery on Friday, September 5, 2025 at 10:00AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Theresa Catholic Cemetery.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to her physicians Dr. Logan Elangovan and Dr. Steve Klemish, the staff and her special caregivers Bezu, Camille, and Ken at Care-Age of Brookfield for their attention, love and care as well as her caregivers at Brighton Hospice in Brookfield. Janet was especially fond and comforted by their gift of her animated robotic “Kitty.” Your love and caring made all the difference in the past year of bringing her joy and contentment every day.
The family is forever grateful to Angels Grace Hospice in Oconomowoc for comforting mom and guiding her and the family through her final hours on earth as she transitioned into the loving arms of Jesus. You brought us peace and comfort and words cannot express the depth of our gratitude.
