Judith Lurvey Obituary

Judith A. Lurvey, 94, of Dousman, WI left her earthly home for Heaven on Wednesday, August 21, 2024.

Judith was born on August 26, 1929 in Dousman, WI the daughter of Ervin and Lavina (Longley) Miller. She grew up in Dousman and graduated from Oconomowoc High School. On May 7, 1949 Judith was united in marriage to Lyle Lurvey and the Lord blessed them with three children, Greg, Gloria and Mark.

Judy and Lyle lived and worked together on the family farm in Dousman for their 46 years of marriage until Lyle’s passing November 9, 1995. Earlier in their marriage she worked as a nurse’s aide at the Masonic Home of Dousman (now Three Pillars), and later continued to volunteer at the healthcare center.

She became instrumental in the family business during the farm market years, from planting seedlings to greeting the public at the barn, selling melons and produce. The U-pick strawberry farm rarely saw a day she wasn’t in the stand when the wagons came in with happy pickers. Her energy in keeping up the home and yard of flowers was well-known. Finding her still on the riding mower in later years was a common sight.

Judy was a good cook and baker. She was in her element hosting holiday meals with Lyle, for the family. She delighted in playing games with friends and family, which often followed a meal. Foremost of all, she was interested in her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and their activities. She attended everything she could from soccer games to horse shows.

Judy had a life-long faith in Jesus. As one of the founders of Highview Presbyterian Church, she was an involved member, spent years singing with the choir, and participated in the annual rummage sale for missions up through this year.  She may even have shared proudly that her rhubarb pie reached a record-breaking $100 at the church pie auction. She truly enjoyed the community of believers, as they did her.

She is survived by: her two sons, Greg (the late Debra) Lurvey of Delavan and Mark (Eileen) Lurvey of Oconomowoc; her grandchildren, Rachelle (Dan) Eifert of Oconomowoc, Chad Lurvey of Delavan, Amanda (Tommy) Richgels of Dousman, Aaron (Regina) Lurvey of Dousman, Alexander Lurvey of Oconomowoc, and Adam Lurvey of Madison;  her great-grandchildren, Jacob, Michael, Isabella, Gwen, Henry and Luca; and her son-in-law, Charles Levine of Hollywood, FL. Judy is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Lyle, her daughter, Gloria, daughter-in-law Debra and two sisters, Genevieve Lurvey and Marion Pike.

Memorials in Judith’s honor may be made to Highview Evangelical Presbyterian Church and the international missions they support.

A Funeral Service to honor Judith’s life will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, August 30, 2024 at Highview Ev. Presbyterian Church (S50W33042 Town Road GE, Dousman, WI 53118), Rev.
