Karen L. Furst, 67, of Eagle, WI passed away on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital.
Karen was born on February 4, 1954 in Wausau, WI the daughter of Harry and Evelyn (Weis) Petersen. She grew up in Wausau and later moved to Racine and graduated from J. I. Case High School in 1972. After high school, Karen attended UW-Parkside. On July 16, 1977, Karen was united in marriage to Glenn Furst at St. Paul’s Apostolic Church in Racine, WI. The Lord blessed Karen and Glenn with a daughter, Kathryn. Karen and Glenn lived in Racine and Waupaca before moving out to Eagle, WI. She worked as a Teacher’s Aide at the Eagle Elementary School for over 25 years and enjoyed it very much. She was great at her job and made many special connections with her co-workers and the children she taught. Karen was a very loving and caring person. She was a devoted wife and mother and a very proud grandma to her two dear grandchildren. For leisure, Karen enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking, knitting, working in her garden, and getting lost in a good book. She also loved fishing, from Muskie to pan fish. Karen shared her love of fishing with her grandchildren and the family has made many wonderful memories taking fishing trips together. She also loved to drive her 1967 Mustang coupe Sweet Pea to car shows and on cruises. Glenn and Karen also did a considerable amount of traveling throughout the United States, Europe, New Zealand, and many other destinations and they enjoyed those special times very much. Above all else in Karen’s life was her love for her family. She will be greatly missed by those she leaves behind but her memory will live on in the many lives she touched.
She is survived by: her loving husband, Glenn Furst of Eagle, WI; her dear daughter, Kathryn (Benjamin) Redling of Troutman, NC; her grandchildren, Henry Joseph Redling and Margaret Lynn Redling; and her sister, Susan (Todd) Bundies of Kenosha, WI. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
A Funeral Service will be held to honor Karen’s life on Monday, September 13, 2021 at 11:00AM at the Gibson Family Funeral Home in Eagle, WI (103 W. Eagle St. Eagle, WI 53119). Rev. Mike Payne will officiate the service. Visitation will take place from 9:00AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Karen will be laid to rest in Holy Cross Cemetery in Racine, WI following the service at 3:00PM.
