Karen Sodemann Obituary

Karen J. Sodemann, 77, of Palmyra, WI left her earthly home for Heaven on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at Meriter Hospital in Madison.

Karen was born on August 6, 1943 in Milwaukee, WI the daughter of Howard and Harriet (Schneider) Koeser. She grew up in the Milwaukee area and after her high school graduation, she continued her education at the University of Wisconsin – River Falls and earned a degree in Teaching. On December 16, 1983, Karen was united in marriage to William C. Sodemann in Milwaukee. Karen worked as a 2nd grade teacher in West Allis at Franklin grade school, a career that she enjoyed and suited her well. Karen was patient, kind, caring, loving and full of life. Her bubbly personality fit her occupation perfectly. Relationships with people were very important to Karen. She forged many deep friendships with her co-workers over the years and maintained those friendships for many years after her retirement. She and a few of her co-workers from the Franklin Elementary School formed the Frankettes and would gather once a month to reminisce about their time teaching and working together. This group of friends was very special to her. Karen was a woman of faith and daily Bible reading was a habit for her. She would often share and discuss what she read in God’s word with Bill. Karen and Bill loved each other deeply and very much enjoyed spending time together. Karen also loved to go on walks. Her other interests include gardening, tending flowers, reading, and fishing up north at the cabin. Karen was a wonderful woman and her family takes comfort in the fact that she is now in Heaven.

She is survived by: her loving husband of 36 years, Bill Sodemann; her dear children, Matthias Sodemann of Austin, TX and Julie (Christopher) Gagnow of Seymour, WI; her grandchildren, Justin, Emma, and Jacob; her dear great-granddaughter, Penelope; and her brother-in-law, Robert Moravec . She is also survived by a number of nieces, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and her loving sister, Nancy Moravec .
