Kaye M. Mathaus

Kaye M. Mathaus, 81, of Milton, and previously of Palmyra, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 24, 2026 at her home with her loving family by her side.

Kaye was born on March 16, 1945 in New London, Wisconsin the daughter of Emmert and Florence (Daily) Eichorst. Kaye was a 1963 graduate of Milwaukee Lutheran High School. After completing her schooling, Kaye worked as a telephone operator where she met her future husband, George Mathaus. Kaye and George were united in marriage in 1983 and went on to enjoy more than 40 years together. God blessed Kaye with a daughter, Patricia. Kaye will be remembered for her giving, thoughtful and caring personality. She was generous, kind and always willing to help a loved one or stranger in need. For leisure, she enjoyed flower gardening, puzzles, and the occasional trip to the casino. Above all else in Kaye’s life was her love for her family. She was a proud wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be deeply missed.

She is survived by: her loving daughter, Patricia (Shawn) Heckman of Milton, her grandsons, John (Julia Oelke), Zacharias, and Logan Heckman, and her great-grandchildren, Maddison, Oaklynn and Stevie. She is further survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Kaye is preceded in death by her loving husband, George, her parents, and her seven siblings.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Kaye's honor may be made to the Palmyra Food Pantry. 

A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held from 5:00PM to 7:00PM on Friday, May 29, 2026 at the Gibson Family Funeral Home in Palmyra, Wisconsin (320 W. Main Street, Palmyra, WI 53156). Kaye will be laid to rest next to her husband in Union Grove Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
