Leslie L. Scolman, 87, of Palmyra, WI passed away on Friday, October 6, 2023 at his home.
Les was born on April 10, 1936 in Rice Lake, WI the son of Leslie E. and Bernice (Hocking) Scolman. He grew up in the Rice Lake area and after finishing his schooling, enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Les served his country in the Marines for more than 20 years. His service included tours in Korea and Vietnam and he and his family lived in many different locations over his career. On June 11, 1960, Les was united in marriage to Brenda Bartels after meeting her two weeks prior and the two would go on to enjoy more than 63 years of marriage together. Les and Brenda were blessed with 4 children, Michael, Greg, Laurie, and Kevin. Les was a hard worker and took good care of his family. He remained active in to his final years doing his own yardwork and snow shoveling well into his 80’s. For leisure, he enjoyed making things with his hands like furniture, and other woodworking projects. He kept a garden and was especially interested in growing potatoes. He was also a sportsman and enjoyed hunting deer, rabbit, and fishing. Les was a good husband, father, and grandfather and he will be dearly missed.
He is survived by: his loving wife, Brenda Scolman; three children, Michael (Rebecca) Scolman of Oro Valley, AZ, Greg (Kathy Mooney) Scolman of Madison, WI, and Kevin (Cheryl) Scolman of Irma,WI; his son-in-law Tim Skowronski of Neenah, WI; his grandchildren Dalton (Cassie), Jordan, Melissa, Tucker, Colton, Rebecca (Steven), Zach, and Shana; his great-grandchildren, Seneca, Maisy, Anastasia, Blake, Clarissa, Zeke, Rylin, Lilly Anna, Zane, and Ried. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Les is preceded in death by his parents, his dear daughter, Laurie, and his brother, Robert.
A private Military Honor Service will be held for Les. Per his wishes, no formal funeral service will be held.
