Marie V. Janik

Marie V. Janik, 88, of Chicago, IL passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at her lake home in Edgerton, WI.

Marie was born on March 4, 1935 in Chicago the daughter of John and Victoria (Kosek) Filas. She grew up in the Chicago area and graduated from Kelly High School. Marie was united in marriage to Stanley Janik in 1955 and the couple went on to enjoy 39 years of marriage together. Marie and Stanley were blessed with two children, Michael and Christine. Marie worked for the majority of her career as a clerk in the grocery industry and she enjoyed her work very much. She had a strong work ethic and worked well into her mid-seventies. Marie had many interests during her life. She was always ready to enjoy a good time with friends and family. She loved to dance to Polka Music, and she also enjoyed baking many delicious Paczki’s and Easter lamb cakes for her friends and family. The word that best describes Marie is mother. She was always putting the needs of others before her own and making sure those around her had what they needed. She was a lovely woman, and she will be dearly missed.

She is survived by: her children, Michael Janik of Downers Grove, IL; and Christine Janik of Edgerton, WI; her granddaughters, Jaime and Amber (Nick); and her great-grandchildren, Kerriana, Cyrus, Cassius, and Sebastian.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Stanley Janik and her two siblings.

Marie will be laid to rest next to her husband at 1:00PM on Friday, July 14, 2023 at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery of Justice, Illinois.
