Marilyn F. Marks, 91, of East Troy and previously of Eagle, WI passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 14, 2024.
Marilyn was born on August 13, 1933 in Eagle, the daughter of John R. and Lillian E. (Arnold) Schmid. She grew up in Eagle and graduated from East Troy High School with the class of 1951. On July 18, 1953, Marilyn married Norman Marks and the two were blessed with five children, Kenneth, Barbara, David, Norma and Mary. Marilyn worked in a few different capacities during her working career. She was a cook at Sasso’s of Eagle, a tailor at St. John’s Military Academy and a cashier at Chapman’s BP where she enjoyed visiting with the customers. The job that Marilyn loved most during her life was being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family was the light of her life and she took excellent care of them. She was a talented cook and baker and expressed her love through her delicious meals. Her loving family has many wonderful memories of countless meals she made for family gatherings. She was also the designated cook for the family’s up north hunting camp and made sure that the hunters remained happy and well fed. Marilyn enjoyed watching her Grandchildren’s sporting events as well as watching the Brewers, Packers and Bucks. Marilyn was a lifelong member of St. Theresa Catholic Parish of Eagle and was active in her local parish. She had quite a few interests during her life and was involved in a number of different local organizations. She was an Eagle Lioness, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and served in a few different ways at St. Theresa, including the women’s quilting group, making quilts for those in need. Marilyn was patient, kind, giving and compassionate. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those she leaves behind.
She is survived by: four children, Barbara Thom of Waukesha, David (Pamela) Marks of Fort Atkinson, Norma (Kenneth) Rapp of Mukwonago, and Mary (Daniel) Chapman of Eagle; her grandchildren, Michelle (Shawn), Tina, Jon Robert (Jessica), Stephanie (Kyle), Tylor (Amanda), Jonathon (Katie), Nicole (Jonathan), and Drew (Kaylin); and her great-grandchildren, Austin, Alea, Giovanni, Jenni, Jocelyn, Jameson, Grayson, Owen, Ella, Caid, Graham, Liam and Ella Jean and great-great-granddaughter Kora, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by: her loving husband, Norman Marks of 46 years, her dear son, Kenneth Marks, and her granddaughter, Gina.
A Funeral Service will be held to celebrate Marilyn’s life at 1:00PM on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at the Gibson Family Funeral Home in Eagle, WI (499 Elkhorn Road, Eagle, WI 53119). Fr. Denny Jacob will officiate the service. A Visitation will take place from 11:00AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Marilyn will be laid to rest in St. Theresa Catholic Cemetery immediately following the service.
