MaryAnn E. Marquardt, 93, of Elkhorn, WI, previously of Eagle, WI passed away on Monday, April 28, 2025 at the Holton Manor in Elkhorn, WI.
MaryAnn was born on January 20, 1932 in Germantown, WI, the daughter of Theodore and Dorothy (Guetzke) Gruling. MaryAnn was the oldest of eight children and from a very young age, took responsibility for caring for her younger siblings after her mother fell ill for an extended period. She spent the first years of her life in the Germantown area and then moved with her family to Eagle for her father’s work. MaryAnn was a strong and capable young woman and did what was necessary to care for her family and this trait stuck with her for the rest of her life. On December 3, 1949, she was united in marriage to Elmer Fleischmann at St. John’s Lutheran Church in North Prairie. God blessed their union with two children, Marlene and Brian, enjoying 27 years together. Elmer passed away in December of 1976 and MaryAnn would later marry Howard Marquardt in October of 1978. Howard and MaryAnn enjoyed their lives together for 29 years until Howard’s passing in 2008. MaryAnn worked in a few different capacities during her life, but her favorite position of all was being a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Her family was the biggest love of her life, with that love being reciprocated by all. MaryAnn was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of North Prairie and served in the church faithfully. She was also a faithful member of the American Legion Auxiliary for many years as well, cooking and serving up the best hot beef sandwiches with her fellow members. For leisure, she enjoyed puzzles, camping and spending time with her loving family. MaryAnn will be dearly missed but forever remembered and loved by those she leaves behind.
She is survived by her children, Marlene (Greg) Hein of Eagle, Brian (Diane) Fleischmann of Eagle; her step-children, Barbara (Steve) Rolfe and Michael Marquardt; her grandchildren, Lisa (Jerome) Armstrong of Eagle, Chad (Melissa) Hein of Whitewater, Cole Fleischmann of Appleton, Cade Fleischmann of Eagle, Brittany Smith of OH, Josh Marquardt of TX, and Dan Rolfe; her great-grandchildren, Lucas, James, Jacob, Michael, Courtney, Jordan, Danica, Chad Jr., Taylor, Alex, and Layla; and great-great-grandchildren, Morgan, Rowan, Lorelai, Logan and Greyson.
