Neil S. McNamara

Neil S. McNamara, age 80 of Waukesha, WI passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2025 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital.

Neil was born on April 15, 1945 in Evanston, Illinois the son of Stuart and Mary (Van Horne) McNamara. Neil grew up in the Downers Grove, Illinois area and was a 1963 graduate of Downers Grove High School. On December 8, 1965, Neil was united in marriage to Donna Wrensch and the Lord blessed their union with a daughter, Kristine. Neil worked as a letter carrier in Waukesha for the United States Postal Service and enjoyed a long career, retiring in 2002. Neil worked hard and took pride in providing well for his family. Neil had an outspoken and straightforward personality. He did not mince words and was direct with his opinions. He had many interests over his life. Neil loved music, especially oldies from the 50’s and 60’s. He also loved to read a good science fiction novel. Neil also appreciated classic cars and loved his Chevrolet Camaro. Above all else in Neil’s life was his love for his family. He will be missed by those he leaves behind.

He is survived by: his wife of 60 years, Donna McNamara of Waukesha; his daughter, Kristine (Stephen) Ozburn of Mukwonago; his dear granddaughter, Melissa Ozburn of Cairns, Australia; and six siblings, Patricia (the late Jerry) Hansen of Valparaiso, IN, Mary (Anthony) Knable of Atascadero, CA, James (Jill) McNamara of Madison, Paul (Robin) McNamara of Dixon, IL, Peggy (Tom) Cain of St. Charles, IL, and Guy McNamara of Santa Fe, NM. Neil is further survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Neil is preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials in Neil’s honor may be made to HAWS of Waukesha, WI.

A private family service will be held to honor Neil’s life. He will be laid to rest in North Prairie Cemetery.
