Patricia M. Latona, 86, of Mukwonago, WI passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at Angels Grace Hospice in Oconomowoc.
Patt was born on October 28, 1935 in Milwaukee, WI the daughter of Frank and Sylvia (Olenberg) Styx. She grew up in Milwaukee and was united in marriage to Frank Latona. Frank and Patt would go on to enjoy 61 years of marriage together until his passing in 2018. The couple was blessed with a loving son, Tony. Patt worked as a school bus driver for the majority of her working career for Lakeland Coach Lines and she loved every minute of it. She was a well-known fixture around the Palmyra-Eagle school district for many years and greatly enjoyed driving for school, sporting events, field trips, or any other school activity. It was more than just the driving for Patt, it was the relationships and interactions with her riders that made her work so special. Her love of driving began with her 1967,baby blue, Mustang named Henrietta. While Frank worked long hours at Miller Brewery, she and Tony would take Henrietta for a cruise on Hwy 100 and they also shared a love of going to the movies. Patt‘s mission was to be sure each of her grandchildren received their driver’s license, and she spent endless hours with each of them practicing driving skills. She wanted to be sure they were prepared for the “trick” hidden stop sign that the Elkhorn DMV used to fail many student drivers. These outings were sure to end with a hamburger or ice cream. She was sweet, kind and generous. Her grandchildren adored her.
Patt had a positive outlook and always saw the glass half full. She enjoyed life as it was happening. Patt had a special connection to animals, especially cats. And she collected figurines of every animal that lived in the woods of their Eagle home. Patt also had the gift of gab and loved to spend time with her “lunch crew”, and dear friends, Candee Pederson, Sherry Hinkforth, Carmen Fritsch and Phyllis Adsit. She enjoyed her home at Birchrock Apartments where she was able to re-connect with friend Mary Ellen Siefert, and a new friend, Sara Nehlsen who became very near and dear to her heart. Above all else in Patt’s life was her love of family. She was a proud wife, mother, grandma and great-grandma and she will be dearly missed.
She is survived by: her loving son, Tony (Lisa) Latona of Mukwonago, WI; her grandchildren, Ariel (Duane) Westcott of Mukwonago, WI, Daniel (Jaclyn) Kraft of Eau Claire, WI, and Michelle (Matt) Mette of Milwaukee, WI; and her great-grandchildren, Kira, Kylee, Gabriel. Patt was excited for the families newest edition, a great-grandson, due this Spring to Daniel & Jaclyn.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, Frank Latona.
Patt and Frank will be laid to rest together during a Graveside Service at 11:00AM on Saturday, April 9, 2022 in St. Theresa Catholic Cemetery in Eagle, WI. Please join us after for a Celebration Luncheon, from Noon-2pm, at Badger Burger, 200 S. Rochester Street, Mukwonago.
