Richard D. Garlock, 87, of Fort Atkinson, WI passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at his home.
Richard was born on November 20, 1938 in Palmyra the son of Donald and Inez (Barnes) Garlock. He grew up in the Palmyra area and after completing his schooling, began a career in the automotive industry as a mechanic. Richard lived for quite a few years in Redgranite, WI and enjoyed his time up North very much. Even after he moved away, it was his home away from home. Richard was good with his hands and could fix just about anything. Besides his work as a mechanic, he also worked for many years in maintenance for Generac. Richard was blessed with a loving daughter, Renee and he was a proud dad. He will be remembered for his fun loving personality and sense of humor, and plenty of sarcasm to go with it. Richard loved being outside enjoying God’s creation hunting and fishing. He was also content to be inside watching football or NASCAR. He will be deeply missed by those he leaves behind.
He is survived by: his loving daughter, Renee (Derrick Olson) Garlock of Fort Atkinson; his grandson, Brendan (Fiancé Nora Broyles) Zember of College Park, MD; his siblings, Harry “Red” (Darlene) Garlock of Palmyra, Donna Skibbe of East Troy, Barb Krueger of Palmyra, Joan “Pinkie” Garlock of Palmyra, Jerry (Lori) Garlock of Palmyra, and Don (Liz) Garlock of Whitewater; and two sisters-in-law, Vicki (the late Raymond) Garlock of Whitewater, and Chris (the late Robert) Garlock of Fort Atkinson. Rich is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Robert, Raymond, and Daryl, and his special companion, Judy Wapp.
A celebration of life will be held at Starin Park Senior Center ("Red Building", 504 W Starin Rd, Whitewater, WI) on Saturday January 3, 2026 from 1:00-3:00 pm.
