Robert E. “Bob” McCue, 94, of Oconomowoc, WI passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025.
Bob was born on October 9, 1930 in Waltham, Massachusetts the son of Thomas and Elizabeth (Hayes) McCue. He grew up in the Waltham area and from a young age loved sports. He was a three sport athlete excelling in football, basketball and was particularly gifted on the baseball diamond. He was eventually scouted by the Brooklyn Dodgers and Detroit Tigers. Bob was named the athlete of the century in his local town and received an athletic scholarship to play football at Brown University, Rhode Island. Throughout his life, he was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. He graduated from Waltham High School and during his time at Waltham High, began dating a young lady named Janet Wright. Bob and Janet would later marry on June 18, 1955 in Waltham. God blessed their union with 5 children, Judith, Karen, Joanne, Robert, Jr., and Jodi. After his schooling, Bob faithfully served his country in the United States Army. After an honorable discharge, Bob began his working career and eventually started his own business, Wallboard, Inc. Owning and operating a business suited Bob well. He had an entrepreneurial spirit, courage, confidence and competitive nature that allowed him to succeed in his career. He ran his business with integrity and treated his customers and clients like his own family. Bob loved traveling back east to Boston to visit his family and enjoyed all of New England’s cuisine, particularly lobster and clams. Bob was successful in most of his endeavors and lived a full life. The thing Bob was most proud of was his dear family. He took pride in being a provider for his family and made sure his wife and children were taken care of. He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa and his best times were spent surrounded by those closest to him. He will be sincerely missed but forever remembered by those he leaves behind.
Bob is survived by: his loving wife of 70 years, Janet McCue of Oconomowoc; his children, Judith (Ron Brooks) McCue of Oregon, WI, Karen McCue of Waukesha, Joanne (James and sons/stepsons Joshua, Benjamin, Zachary) Pluer of Mukwonago, Robert McCue, Jr. of Waukesha, and Jodi (John) Jonas of Eagle; his grandchildren, Jared Brill, Stephanie (Patrick) Shea, David (Rachael) Brill, Paul Cielinski, Claire (Joshua) Watkins, Amy Althoff, Patrick Jonas, and Eleanor Jonas; and his great-grandchildren, Macklin, Everlee, Emma, Penelope, Willow, Sebastian, Sullivan, and Delaney. Bob is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his 5 siblings, Paul, Arthur, Walter, Barbara and Donald.
Memorials if desired may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Eagle, WI (136 W. Waukesha Road, Eagle, WI 53119). Fr. Denny Jacob and Fr. Dennis Ackeret will officiate the mass. Visitation will take place from 11:00AM until the time of service at the church. Bob will be laid to rest with full military honors in St. Theresa Catholic Cemetery immediately following the service.
