Robert J. Winters, Sr.

Robert J. Winters, Sr., age 86, of Whitewater, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on the morning of Monday, August 17, 2026 at his home with his loving family by his side.

Bob was born on June 24, 1940 in Sauk Center, Minnesota the son of Henry and Alvina (Holdvogt) Winters. After his schooling, Bob faithfully served his country in the United States Navy. He was united in marriage to Debra Eleves on July 17, 1982 in Waukesha and the two would go on to enjoy 44 years of marriage together. Bob worked as a manager in the retail industry for the majority of his working career. Bob had a strong work ethic and worked multiple jobs at once for a majority of his working career. It was very important to him to provide for his family and make sure they had what they needed to succeed. He was blessed with two sons, Robert Jr. and James. He had a special connection with animals and also loved to relax and watch a good Westen.  Bob will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those he leaves behind.

He is survived by: his loving wife, Debra Winters of Whitewater; his son, James Winters of Mesa, AZ; his step-children, Betty Jo (Richard) Faber of Dowds, IA, James Clark of Waukesha, Jonathan (Crystal) Clark of Whitewater, his grandchildren, Noah, Hannah, Paris, Nathan, Alex, Serena, James, Jr, Tara, and Jonathan, Jr. and his great-grandchildren, Oliver, Emilie, and Jack. He is further survived by his faithful canine companion, Milo, and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his dear son, Robert, Jr. and his siblings, Arthur, Elmer “Bud”, and Alice.

Bob will be laid to rest at 10:00AM on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at Union Grove Veterans Memorial Cemetery with full military honors.
