Ruth Strand Obituary

Ruth Mae Strand, 98, of Dousman, WI passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Heritage Court of Pewaukee.

Ruth was born on January 28, 1928 in Milwaukee to Daniel and Edna (Stumpf) Lauer. She grew up on a dairy farm in Dousman and later graduated from Oconomowoc High School in 1946. After meeting at the local church, she went on to be united in marriage to her loving husband, Arthur Strand on July 31, 1948. God blessed their union with four children, Ken, Catherine, Jerry, and Greg. Ruth was a loving and generous wife and mother, taking pride in her homemaking and family. Ruth and Art were active parish members, volunteering with Meals on Wheels, Ethan Allen Boys School, and the Christian Mothers. They also did missionary work in the Caribbean Islands. Ruth enjoyed traveling, ceramics, sewing, cooking and was an avid card player. She and her husband were also fond of good old country music and listening to the Brewers on the radio. Ruth will be remembered for her kindness, her wittiness, and most of all her deep Catholic faith. She attended daily mass, adoration and frequented the Sacraments all her life. Ruth will be sincerely missed by those she leaves behind.

She is survived by: her children, Ken (Linda) Strand of Hatley, Catherine (Bruce) Antonie of Muskego, Jerry (Bernadette) Strand of Dousman, and Greg (Kathy) Strand of Waukesha; her grandchildren, Spring, Melanie (Marty), Diana (Jay), Robert (Patty), Lisa, Nick (Elisa), Nate, Fr. Luke, Fr. Vincent S.J., Fr. Jacob, Theresa (Christopher), Shauna (Jack), and Chelsea (Tyler); and her great-grandchildren, Carmen, Tischa, Blake, Ashley, Alyson, Ava, Sofia, Lily, Isabella, Franco, Colette, Gianna, Thomas, Lucy, Charles, Jonathan, Cameron, Pierce, and Freya. Ruth is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Strand, her parents, and two siblings, Betty Foltz and Daniel Lauer.
