Thaddeus J. Kucharski

Thaddeus J. “Ted” Kucharski, age 90, of Eagle, Wisconsin passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital, surrounded by family and friends.

Ted was born on December 26, 1935 in Milwaukee. He was the son of Thaddeus M. and Marion B. (Knoppa) Kucharski. Raised in Milwaukee, he attended St. Hedwigs grade school and later graduated from Boys’ Technical and Trade High School. Ted earned a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Carroll College, and spent the majority of his working career as an electrician. Ted faithfully served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mukwonago and his Christian faith was central to who he was.

He is survived by: his loving wife, Nancy Kucharski of Eagle, his siblings, Carolyn (the late Russ) Mathems of Hartland, and Carl Kucharski of Portland, OR, and his siblings in law, John (Jeannie) Schreiber of Rhinelander and Carl (Kathy) Westerdale of Eagle. He is further survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Bridget (the late Harry) Hein, and Bob Kucharski.

People who knew Ted remember he was a man of many names: Thaddeus, Ted, Bud, Mr. K, Teddy, Uncle Bud, Uncle Bunkie and Nancy’s personal favorite...Bunz.

Ted and Nancy’s love story began at the Vagabond Ski Club in Milwaukee. While volunteering at a fundraiser for Oktoberfest, Ted asked Nancy to dance and their love for one another began. They were married at Stoney Brook Farm on June 14th, 1986.

They enjoyed 40 adventurous and beautiful years together. Their list of hobbies were long and exciting, including skiing, sailing on their 30-foot sailboat around Lake Michigan, flying with Ted’s fellow pilots (sometimes just to go out for Sunday brunch!), traveling the United States from east to west coast as well as throughout Europe. Ted loved road trips the best because of Nancy’s award winning four course picnics, complete with the red and white checkered tablecloth and themed flowers to match every season.

Ted certainly fulfilled the old proverb “a way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.” We all know he loved food and loved to eat just about everything. He was well known for filling his tank with a hearty breakfast at the Hen House in Eagle, Friday night fish fries, all-you-can-eat buffets, turtle sundaes and a personal favorite: the McDonald’s rib sandwich.

He had a special place in his heart just for friends and family. He was always ready to share his knowledge, skills, wisdom, humor and help with all things electrical. He was an electronics instructor for 30 years at WCTC (Waukesha County Technical College) and owned Full Power Electric, working as an independent private electrical contractor. He was a longtime member of IAEI (Independent Alliance of the Electrical Industry). He helped run the largest industrial trade show in Wisconsin, PFMA (Plant Facilities Maintenance Association), where he was also their treasurer and an electrical instructor.

Ted knew how to live life to its fullest. He could fly planes and hot air balloons, navigate the seas and show off great moves on the dance floor with his beloved wife. He lived by the pilot’s code of “make your landings the same number of take offs.” We all loved Ted, but the truest love of all was from Nancy, “Soar high my love, safe landing. Until we meet again. Love you with all my heart, Cakes.”

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ted’s honor may be made to St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church of Mukwonago or WCTC Foundation, Inc. General Scholarships (wctc.edu/donate).

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Mukwonago. The Rev. Tim Bode and the Rev. John Bortulin will officiate the service. Visitation will take place from 10:00AM until the time of service at the church. Ted will be laid to rest at Union Grove Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery during a private family service at a later date.
