John Herman Bean

John Herman Bean, age 77, of Bosworth, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at his home.

John was born May 9, 1932 in Fountain County, Indiana, the son of Harley Ernest and Alethia Margaret (Brown) Bean. He was in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

On November 20, 1955 he married Ruby Ilene Nibarger in Indiana. To this union three children were born: Deborah Lynne, Michael Ray and Marcella Rebecca.

On July 25, 1980 he married Rita Sue Griswold in Brunswick, Missouri. Rita survives at the home. To this union was born Erisa Alethe.

John retired as a maintenance supervisor for MODOT at Bosworth with thirty-four years of service. He had worked part-time as a greeter at Wal-Mart in Chillicothe for fourteen years. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Chillicothe.

John is survived by his wife of the home, three children, Deborah Lynne (Bean) Leffler, Hale, Missouri, Marcella Rebecca (Bean) Fisher, Carrollton, Missouri, Erisa Alethe Griswold-Bean, Bosworth, Missouri; one sister, Gecka Jean (Bean) Long, Crawfordsville, Indiana; six grandchildren, Catherine Louise Creason, Judy Ann Harris, Kenneth Ray Willis, Bettie Ilene Fisher, John Charles Leffler and Crystal Colleen Palmer and numerous great grandchildren.

His parents, three brothers, Francis William, Max Lee and Claude Ernest, two sisters, May Ellen Bean and Clara Marie Woolwine, one son, Michael Ray Bean and two great grandchildren preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, August 1, 2009 at Gibson Funeral Home, Bosworth, Missouri, with Pastor Alan Brock officiating. Burial will be in Wharton Cemetery, Bosworth, Missouri. Veterans of Foreign Wars Pence-Lovell-England Post #1773, Carrollton, Missouri, will provide military services.

Visitation will be from 12:30-1:15 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.

The family suggests contributions be made to Hedrick Medical Center Hospice in memory of John. They may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main, Carrollton MO 64633.
